About the Board

The Crisp County Board of Education is the governing body of Crisp County Schools. The board's five members are elected to staggered, four-year terms from the county's election districts and at large. 

Specific duties of the board include appointing the superintendent, formulating policy, allocating funds for the operation of the school system, adopting courses of study, prescribing the strategic direction for improving schools and the district, providing for the maintenance and expansion of facilities, employing staff members, and approving the budget, financial reports and major expenditures.  

The superintendent is a professional educator appointed by the board. The superintendent serves as chief executive officer of the school district and is charged with implementing the board's policies. 

The public is invited to attend board meetings. Generally, board meetings are held at 7:15 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, and board work sessions are held at 7:15 p.m. on the preceding Wednesday. In addition, special called meetings are held as needed. Meetings are conducted at the Former Middle School at 1116 East 24th Ave in Cordele.

Joe Joe is a life-long resident of Crisp County and long time public servant. Joe Joe graduated from Crisp County High in 1982 and attended Georgia Southwestern University through 1986. He was a County Investigator for the Crisp County Sheriffs Office back in the 80’s. He spent 40 years of his life involved in some capacity in youth sports, including baseball, football, basketball and soccer as a Coach. He also officiated for the kids for over 30 years. Joe Joe currently is the Program Manager at the Crisp County Recreation Department and is over local youth sports programs. Joe Joe’s career has been marked by numerous adventures in industry and sales. He is married to the former Angie McGlamory of Cordele and has three grown kids: Kathleen, Matt (Ashley) and John (Kaylee) Wright. Joe Joe has a passion for history both local and abroad and of course is a sports fanatic. Joe Joe believes in Crisp County and is certain our best days are on the way.

A graduate of Crisp County High, Class of 1999. Anna Granville is the 2nd African American female to be elected to Crisp County School Board in 66 years. After graduating, Anna enlisted into the United States Navy. Anna returned home and became a POST Certified Peace Officer in 2006. Anna, an active member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves on the Media Ministry Team. Currently, Anna is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Crisp Regional. Anna is the proud parent of four children, L’Nydia, Kaya, Billie, and Wesley. Anna's platform; "Serving first the children of Crisp County to ensure transparency, integrity, and ethicality across the board".

Chris Anderson was sworn in to serve on the Crisp County Board of Education in January of 2023. He graduated from Crisp County High School in 2001 and from South Georgia Technical College with 2 AAS (Associates of Applied Science) in 2004. He has worked in public retail and become owner of Anderson Electronics (formerly RadioShack) in 2019. Before that he was performing electronics sales and repair since 2000 within the same business through two different owners including his late father Larry. He has three children, Morgan, Avery, and Kaden, who all are currently part of Crisp County schools and other activities such as 4-H and recreational sports where Chris has spent most of his free time coaching or supporting his children in whatever activities they choose.

Mr. Jay Brinson comes to the Crisp County Board of Education after serving 38 years as a public school educator. His tenure in three Georgia school districts offered him the opportunity to learn and grow, first as a teacher in high school, middle school and elementary school, followed by many years in leadership roles. While serving as assistant elementary school principal, elementary principal, system curriculum director, high school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent, he was able to develop and manage balanced budgets; assist with the design followed by managing the construction of modern school buildings within a tight budget; develop plans to recruit, employ and retain professional and classified staff; evaluate professional and classified personnel; analyze building and system data to improve curriculum and instruction; and, assist with the development and implementation of dropout prevention programs among many other duties and responsibilities. Jay and his wife, Mary Colvin Brinson (a retired teacher), are the parents to Matthew (Sunny) and Adam (Sarah).
