Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE)
The GACE® Assessments
The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE®) is Georgia’s state-approved educator certification assessment program. These computer-delivered assessments have been developed by the GaPSC and Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Certified and Classified Substitutes
Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute for the Crisp County School System. To work as a substitute you must:
Complete a three-hour State-Mandated training session
Complete a Crisp County local orientation
Agree to a criminal background check including fingerprints, and
Be approved by the local Board of Education
Applicants who have a valid (unexpired) teaching or paraprofessional certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission are exempt from the three-hour State-Mandated training session; however, the Crisp County local orientation, criminal background check (including fingerprints) and local Board of Education approval are required for placement on the substitute teacher list. The teacher substitute list is designed for principals at the schools to contact personnel to sub in a classroom during regular school hours and during the school year.

Copy of college transcript showing number of years completed
Copy of high school diploma or GED, if not a college graduate
Documentation from Substitute Teacher Training (or copy of valid teaching or paraprofessional certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; recent graduates may submit recent verification from the college that your teaching certificate has been applied for)
The Crisp County School System continually accepts online applications for this position; however, new substitutes are added to the list only after successfully completing all requirements, including local orientation. Local orientation is scheduled on an as needed basis. Applicants who have provided sufficient documentation from Substitute Teacher Training will be notified by email or phone with information regarding the date, time and location of the local orientation.
