Superintendent Bio
Mrs. Cindy Hughes, a native of Cordele and proud product of the Crisp County School System served as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and Student Support Services from 2014 to 2019, before being selected as Superintendent beginning March 1, 2019. An educator for 39 years, she spent 17 years in the classroom before becoming an Assistant Principal at A. S. Clark Elementary School in 1999. Ms. Hughes was named Assistant Principal at Crisp County Middle School in 2002, where she served for four years.
Mrs. Hughes left Crisp County Schools in 2006 when she was named Principal at Jasper County Primary School, where she served for 5 years. In 2011, she became Principal of Sumter County Primary School in Americus, Ga before returning to the Crisp County School System in 2012 as Principal of Blackshear Trail Elementary and J. S. Pate Elementary, leading the transition to Crisp County Primary School, which opened in 2014.
Mrs. Hughes earned a Masters and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southwestern State University. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Crisp County Community Council and the Crisp County Board of Health. She also serves as a Crisp Regional Hospital Board Member, Ex-Officio Board Member of the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce, and several other community organizations.
