Crisp County School System proudly announces Elaine Ellis as its 2025 Teacher of the Year! Ellis is a reading interventionist at Crisp County Primary School (CCPS) in Cordele, Georgia. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Additionally, she holds a Master of Education degree and an Education Specialist degree, both of which were received in Elementary Education from Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW). Ellis also obtained a Reading Specialist certificate and a Dyslexia Endorsement.
In 2011, Ellis began her career teaching kindergarten in Noblesville, Indiana, in the classroom where she attended kindergarten as a child. While at Noblesville Schools, Ellis taught kindergarten, second, and fourth grade. In 2016, she gratefully accepted a teaching position at CCPS. After relocating to Crisp County, Ellis established herself as a distinguished second-grade teacher and received a promotion as an interventionist in 2021.
Ellis’ eagerness to learn and passion for teaching reading have elicited much of her leadership experience. Through the Growing Readers program, she was selected to present at a learning showcase and to participate in a focus group for the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. Last fall, Ellis was recommended as a LETRS Local Facilitator. She now facilitates professional learning locally and as contracted by the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE). She was also recently selected to attend the Georgia LitLink conference and will learn with individuals over the next year from the GADOE and the Rollins Center for Language and Literacy.
Elaine Ellis’ experiences, passion, and dedication have not only influenced the teacher and leader she is today, but also underscore her commitment to continuous growth and learning in the field of education. Her influence has enriched the lives of her students, shaping them into future leaders. Crisp County is blessed to have Elaine Ellis educating our future leaders.
